*Patna, August 24*

BJP leader and Patna Sahib MP Ravi Shankar Prasad today strongly countered Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of “vote theft,” responding with facts and clarity.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP state headquarters, he said that in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Samajwadi Party won 37 seats in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP won 33, and Congress secured six. “Even in that election, the Election Commission was the same. If people vote for them, then the Commission is fine, but if they lose, then the Commission is bad—how can this logic work?” he asked.

The former Union Minister also cited the example of Maharashtra, where Congress won 13 seats, BJP nine, Shiv Sena nine, and NCP eight. “Wasn’t the same Election Commission there too?” he asked. He added that Congress also formed governments in Himachal Pradesh and Telangana, “so is the Commission only valid when Congress wins?”

Prasad said, “If the people do not vote for Rahul Gandhi, what can anyone do? In Haryana, Delhi, and Maharashtra assembly elections, the BJP won because the people saw through Rahul Gandhi’s lies.”

He accused Rahul Gandhi of consistently attacking constitutional institutions with shameless allegations. “Today it is the Election Commission; earlier it was ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai.’ He has targeted the Election Commission, the media, the Prime Minister—everyone. But Rahul Gandhi must understand: he cannot say anything he wants and expect the country to simply tolerate it.”

Prasad further said that in Bihar, Rahul Gandhi is trying to mislead people with baseless allegations. On Tejashwi Yadav, he remarked, “The kind of language he is using for the Prime Minister is unacceptable. The people of this country have elected Narendra Modi as Prime Minister three times. He must apologize for calling the Prime Minister a liar. And Tejashwi Yadav should be careful not to adopt Rahul Gandhi’s ways under his influence.”

On the issue of the Special Summary Revision (SSR), he explained that the Election Commission has clarified that over 98% of voters have submitted documents. “Out of 7.24 crore voters, only 0.16% objections have been recorded. There are 3.28 lakh new applicants who have just turned or are about to turn 18. The deadline is September 1, so there is still time,” he said.

The Commission itself has noted that all parties have about 1.6 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs), but barring one or two, none have raised objections.

Citing statistics, he asked Rahul Gandhi, “Should the deceased or those registered in two places be allowed to vote? Should those who have left Bihar still vote here? Objection filing time has been provided—why not use it?”

Prasad firmly said that “only abusing others won’t work.” He added that Rahul Gandhi’s mindset is simple: “Whatever I say is right, everything else is wrong. This comes from a deep desire that Congress must rule India with Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister, and RJD must rule Bihar with Tejashwi Yadav as Chief Minister.”

“This is nothing but lust for power. But the people will never hand power to them. Neither will Rahul Gandhi ever become Prime Minister, nor Tejashwi Yadav become Chief Minister. The people must see their real faces and ask whether such leaders can handle responsibility,” Prasad said. He reaffirmed that NDA has won honestly in the past and will continue to do so. Responding to a query, he reminded that there is also a provision to file complaints with affidavits.

Present at today’s press conference were Bihar BJP’s Media In-charge Danish Eqbal and State Media Co-incharge Amit Prakash ‘Bablu.’
